Here are two things that you won’t believe about Mobile County’s largest park: That it’s got so much to do — including hiking, biking, fishing, kayaking and more — and that it’s just 15 minutes from downtown Mobile!
What’s new at Chickasabogue? A lot.
There’s something for everyone at Chickasabogue. The park offers 17 miles of hiking and biking trails, top-notch fishing, sports fields, watercraft rentals, a boat launch, RV campgrounds and a beach on Chickasabogue Creek.
But this 1,100-acre outdoor jewel has gotten even better, with a new playground, new splashpad, a new picnic pavilion and improved courts for basketball, pickleball and tennis.
Go fishing. Or go for a hole in one.
It’s no wonder so many people get hooked on Chickasabogue. The creek contains plenty of fish, including bass, bluegill, crappie, catfish, pickerel, flounder, and redfish.
But if you’d rather try your luck on land, the park also offers a championship 36-hole disc golf course sanctioned by the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA). No matter what your level of game, this popular disc course is worth the walk through some beautiful wooded areas.
Take a walk with the wildlife.
It’s everywhere at Chickasabogue. As a wildlife refuge, this park balances outdoor activities for humans with the opportunity to see so many animals in a natural setting. Don’t forget to bring binoculars!
